Exploding Assemblies into parts for Nucleo and naming the VDM file automatically
When using Nucleo, Solid Part assemblies must be exploded first. Here are some options:

Method 1 (automatically upon import):

1) Start OPTICAM/Nucleo.
2) Go to "File->Data Exchange->Import" then click "Import Parameters".

3) Check "Explode Assemblies" and "Use CAD filename"

4) Click "OK". The defaults will be now saved. Click "Cancel" on the file import dialog.

NOTE: You may also explode assemblies inside OPTICAM/Nucleo if this option is not checked using either of the additional methods below:

Method 2:
Simply hover the mouse cursor over the assembly in the graphic viewport and right-click it - select the assembly name from the menu list then the sub-selection to explode it. Repeat as required.

Method 3:
You can also do this in the Geometry workspace; if you have more than one assembly in there, they could be nested, so you may have to do it more than once. The “Getting Started Guide” (which we're about to update) outlines this - https://www.optisolutionsusa.com/datasheets/Nucleo%20Fixture%20Design%20-%20Getting%20Started.pdf
