Transferring Saved System Default Settings and Technology Data

NOTE: Because of changes to the way PEPS/OPTICAM CLASSIC works with Post Profiles now, the below method no longer works for V2022.  Please follow the new KB for that information.

- Copying the necessary data from one version to another
- Copying the necessary data from one computer to another

These instructions are for transferring saved system default settings and technology data from an older version of the OPTICAM Classic software to a newer version or transferring the data from a previous installation to a new installation on a new computer.

The first segment outlines the steps to transfer the systems default settings and technology data from an earlier version of OPTICAM Classic V8.1 to V8.2 (the same will apply for future versions). The second segment outlines the process for transferring the settings to a new installation on a new computer.

Copying the necessary data from one version to another
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Using Windows Explorer, browse to the following path location:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\OPTICAM_ClassicV8.1

Copy the Data folder from this location (keyboard shortcut CTRL-C).

Next, please browse to the following path location:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\OPTICAM_ClassicV8.2

Rename to the existing Data folder to Data-Old

Paste the Data folder currently on the clipboard (the one from V8.1 to the V8.2) at the path location listed above (keyboard shortcut CTRL-V).

As shown above, you should see a Data-Old and Data folder in this location.

Next browse to the following path location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\OPTICAM_ClassicV8.1\post\wire

One at a time, open the folder of each Wire EDM post processor that you have a license for and then open the Customer folder listed for that post processor.

If there are any files in the customer folder then copy the contents of the Customer folder to the same location in OPTICAM Classic V8.2, for example:

C:\Program Files (x86)\OPTICAM_ClassicV8.2\post\wire\Makino\customer

Copying the necessary data from one computer to another
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For copying default system settings and technology data from an existing computer to a new installation on another computer, please follow the same steps listed above but copy the same files from the latest version of the OPTICAM Classic software that you have installed on the existing computer and paste them to the same location on the new computer.
