How do I install or apply a CodeMeter license update file?

Once you have requested a license update and received a new file from support (usually ending in .WibuCmRaU), you need to apply it to your computer or USB dongle. This is a very quick process for any type of licensing we offer.

1. Save the License File

First, you need to save the file you received in your email to your computer.

  • Open your email and download the attached .WibuCmRaU file.
  • Save it somewhere easy to find, like your Desktop or Downloads folder.

2. Open CodeMeter Control Center

Next, we need to open the program that manages your licenses.

  • If you use a physical USB dongle, make sure it is plugged securely into your computer.
  • Click the Start menu and search for CodeMeter Control Center, or click its blue/grey icon in the bottom right corner of your screen near the clock.

3. Apply the File (The Easy Way)

The fastest way to install the license is to simply drag and drop the file.

  1. Make sure you can see both the downloaded file on your computer and the CodeMeter Control Center window.
  2. Click and hold the .WibuCmRaU file.
  3. Drag it directly into the open CodeMeter Control Center window and let go.
  4. A small window will pop up confirming the update was successful. Click OK.

4. Apply the File (The Manual Way)

If the drag-and-drop method does not work, you can use the built-in update tool.

  • In CodeMeter Control Center, click on your dongle or virtual stick in the left-hand list.
  • Click the License Update button on the right side.
  • Click Next, choose Import license update, and click Next again.
  • Click the ... button to browse for the file you saved earlier. Select it and click Commit.

5. Verify the License

To make sure it worked:

  • Look at the icon next to your license in the CodeMeter Control Center. It should now be solid Green.
  • You can now open your PEPS, OPTICAM or Nucleo software.
